It is the most irritating thing to be invited to a party or to go to a social gathering - there is really nothing to do. Everyone is talking without saying anything - it is pretend talk. No one really listens or cares to listens - they are already so bored by mumbling crowd. Whoever invented parties should have been hanged.
Situation 1: You meet someone you know after a very long time, indulge in small talk and then that person spots someone else and walks away halfway between a conversation.
Situation 2: You start talking to some one, that person's cell phone rings - instead of paying attention is talking to whoever is at the other end.
Situation 3: You are sitting around feeling like a complete idiot, because no one is paying any attention to you, because you have all but given up - trying to go ahead and actually go and talk to anyone because that person is bound to start ignoring in a very quickly. But you are stuck because its late and you are famished and there is not much option but to wait for dinner.
Situation 4: You have been invited to a party - where no one knows you and you know no one, the host is too busy with other people who have just arrived and simply forgets to greet you. You go in and wonder why you ever came to this party. Everyone is talking none of which makes any sense so there you are munching snacks the entire evening all alone.
Situation 5: You go to a party where there are people you know - but they all look down on you because you don't measure up - because they are wealthier, more influential - it is another question whether they are smarter or know more or not. All that you have is a rickety old car which needs to be repaired almost all the time, while they all have these brand new 'limousines'. Some of these guests are your relatives and they will never bother to help if your car just does not work when you leave the party, you are simply not worth it.
Situation 6: You spot someone at a party whom you know, that person passes a glance and sees right through as if you are not there, when you greet them - they are forced to say something but later you see them grind their teeth as to why you bothered them, they do not want to have anything to do with you.
Situation 7: Your host is extremely patronising - introduces you to his guests (whom you do not know) as being a relative of someone or what you do for a living. The guests greet you with half smiles, do not bother to shake your hand and resume doing what they were doing earlier and your hosts disappears in the crowd and you know the rest of the evening is going to be boring.
