Proud of my ignorance? Certainly not - but I must admit do not know much about anything - rather for the most part I am absolutely have no clue. If am told the world is round and it has been proven to be so - I must agree - but my personal experience tells me it is flat. Why do things fall it said I am told there is such thing as gravity then I am told there is nothing such as gravity it is the curvature of space - whatever that is supposed to mean. I wish scientists were to make up their minds. What are those tiny bright dots I see in the night sky? I have no idea - I am told they are stars and they are so far away no one will ever be able to reach them. Whatever the reasons for that I will never venture to ask, I have never had a telescope in my life so I can never see that far.
Why does my mobile do the things it does? - I do not know. Why can see so many TV channels, when at one time I could only one - is beyond me. Why I can see TV is at all is even harder to explain. There are so many things I do not know. When my car breaks down for one reason or another - I have no idea what the problem is but the mechanic or whoever it is can fix it. I am supposed to keep a watchful eye on the work as if comprehend what he is doing, when really I do not. Everything is so complicated it gives me a headache , the sort of when you get stuck while playing one of those video games in some place where it is apparently impossible to get out of. Eventually get fed up and stop playing the video game forever, I was told it was supposed to be fun - it turns into pure aggravation. (Video game developers should really get their act together and make games for people with slow reflexes for those who are middle-aged and older).
The Internet is supposed to be easy to use - it definitely not because you never find what you are looking for because - it is not phrased correctly or the word spelt wrongly. Above all how can the Internet do what it does - I probably will get a long winded explanation and again having another headache.
There is information overload from just owning a non-digital camera. You have so many photographs developed over the years and have a stack full of albums. With a digital camera it is worse, one ends saving all the pictures on CDs and end up having so many CDs - there is no time look see that vast collection. Be it photographs, music, videos recordings of occasions and ceremonies, there so many great books to read - but how many can be read in a lifetime -very few indeed.

People end up with too much information and too little utility for it. There is so many subjects so many courses - but we all end up selecting one of them which ultimately defines who and what we are for the remainder of our life. Eventually we marginalise ourselves and limit our existence to the few things we understand completely. Everything is else eventually becomes garbage - one does not bother ask anything anymore. So if someone is an expert in a field we accept it without questioning, because we know we will never understand, even if he begins to explain - most of the things he will be talking about will be incredibly complex.
It is said that Artificial Intellegent robots will be able to everything we do many times faster and with greater precision - they can be made work round the clock, human beings get tired, need rest, they need food, they need shelter and they have a family life. Robots will never require them. Computers have managed to beat human chess champions. While human beings may one day never have no jobs because robots will be doing everything.
Human beings as they grow older become less proficient, less able to learn knew things and eventually incapable of adapting - when newer models of robots are built they will march ahead equipped with tremendous knowledge and incredible new skills. It could very well be that robots will be building upgraded versions of robots and so ad infinitum, till one day they will decide what is good for us.
Thankfully we have not reached that stage yet - right now there are still vacancies for people for different jobs. But very few of them exist as the economy gets worse. One can be PhD in anything but that qualification but that qualification means nothing if there are no jobs for it. So a person may know a great deal but would be a homeless, hopeless and hapless person. In such circumstances ignorance is bliss - because one does not have regrets having spent precious time and money something completely worthless. Regardless whatever our teachers and professors said that there is a 'bright future ahead' after receiving the degree - it turns out to be nothing more than gloom and doom.
