Funny thing about mobile phones

When mobile phones were first introduced they were large bulky items, the size of most cordless phones of these days. But now they have shrunk in size and have so many features that fill an entire book. In the beginning they could only be owned by those who very rich, nowadays - almost everyone has them including kids.

The original need for these phones was entirely business purposes just like personal computers use to be. Businessmen of large companies found the phones useful to make their deals while on the move in the chauffeur driven cars or were in not in their offices and were elsewhere. Well that was the original idea till their prices dropped and their features increased. In the beginning owning a mobile phone was a symbol of prestige, people would hauling them around in parties as if they were a luxury item. Today only those people make a show of their phones if they are really very expensive and have countless features in them although they may never use them or how to.

The problem with a small sized mobile phone is that it can be easily lost. There is no doubt that the features are incredible the technology is amazing – but the phones have to be reasonably sized, not too small and not too big. For the older generation who need reading glasses, it is impossible for them to tell which number they have pressed because the buttons are too small. The features are great to have provided one knows how to use them. For older people, a mobile phone is like any other phone. Make a call or receive one that is just about it. The buttons should be large enough and spaced out so that one is sure that a number has been dialled. The screen should show the dialled number fairly magnified form.

Businessmen always require a wide range of contacts and can afford to talk for a long time on the mobile phone – because they are actually making business arrangements and becoming richer by the minute. For ordinary people chatting on a mobile phone is very expensive and thus an unnecessary waste. If it is absolutely necessary to chat then best thing to do is to use a fixed phone connection. The mobile phone has become a digital camera, a game console – all very well, but if anyone were to take a survey ordinary people have the most mundane use of them. Calling up to find out what errands need to be done, tell when one is going to reach home or some other place, or if one is lost trying to find a place – phoning up to find how where to get there. The maximum number of people one has on ones ‘phone book’ are that of family and close friends nothing else.

Although the technology is there to fit everything in a tiny package, human fingers are not that small and their eyes not always that strong. The additional features are great to use provided one can figure out how they work first of all, the possibility of that is slim. The more features a mobile phone the more expensive it is, some one rushes to purchase a featured packed phone just because he has the money, ends up being very disappointed because does not know how use most of the features and sells it. Even the simplest mobile phones of present times are still very hard for some people to figure out.

There is massive generation gap in the use of mobile phones. Kids play games and send silly text messages. The older generation do not have the time to play games or take pictures, they are simply interested in calling up or receiving calls nothing else. Then there is the businessmen for whom the mobile phone is an absolute necessity, they have a large number of people remain in touch with, then there are those who are not businessmen they do not need too many people on their contact list.

Although mobile phones with Internet have been around for some time, this service only recently been introduced by one company only. Mobile phone calls are too expensive to even consider leave alone use it for browsing the Internet. By the time companies catch with present day technology, it would have changed completely. So our mobile connection service companies will always be several steps behind the newest technology creating problems for those who come from abroad who have adapted to the latest innovations. The short sighted approach of the government creates these problems. Which is why Pakistan has started to lag behind in innovation and technology.

The blessed and the cursed

The only way to get a really grand job is to be in the right place at the right time. Hardwork, talent, ability and intelligence means nothing. All that you learnt at you university or college is worthless. Consider a man working his butt off for years in a company, suddenly finds out the companies boss has been jailed for not paying taxes. The company winds up and the hardworking man ends on the street. He put in his life in the company – now his pension has gone and he is an old man with no chance getting another job. Lots of people try to be become movie stars end up they are too ugly, their voice is terrible and they just simply stupid – it is all matter of being bad luck. Others regardless of how they look get great part in some movie and end up acting in a film which makes lots of money. A good luck also accounts for the fact that some people can get away with mass murder and never be held accountable for their crimes and some one get just kill one person and be jailed for life

Dr Salman Shah is insane

The price of petrol has been increased 7 times and the country's Finance Adviser says it will not affect the economy. I do not know about the economy but I am paying more and more for petrol and my salary has not increased, it is not enough one day petrol will eventually become as expensive as gold or more. Its people like Dr. Salman Shah who do not announce anything during the budget announcement, later start telling the people that everything is going to be more expensive later at the same time say it will not make any difference to the economy. Dr. Salman Shah says this because he does not have to pay for the petrol of his limousine - it is free for him Why should he not drive around in his limousine and pay for petrol from his own pocket instead on relying on the government. The day he starts doing that he will realise what he has done, he will scream. The price of petrol is high because it has 300 per cent taxes on it. If those taxes are removed the petrol would be m

Mysterious kidnappings

Young students in their twenties are being kidnapped from Karachi and other cities. Though reports about these are kept secret, but with the frequency they are taking place, there is bound to be a leak  and people eventually get to know about this. But the question is who responsible and why is it happening. There are no clear answers. But the people who get away by committing such crimes are obviously are very highly placed, they are virtually above the law. No one can arrest them, even though the evidence is overwhelmingly against them. This is a new way to terrorise the people, it simply boils down to this. If the police and other law enforcement organisations are unable to prevent crime, the people would be forced to take up arms against those who murder, kidnap and steal. Whatever the reasons for the kidnapping, is irrelevant, the people protecting the kidnappers will face the wrath of the people. No court, no judge is going to prosecute these criminals. There is a limit to su
