It is strange to learn about how employees are treated. Close circuit cameras are not meant for security purposes, they are used to monitor employees. A worker is required to 12 hours or more standing - with not a minute to rest. If any employee is seen sitting down, or leaning against the wall to take a breather is immediately fired without a moments notice. It is as if people are machines are expected to perform as such. They are also underpaid.
What also has gone is the concept of the monthly salary and pensions are out of the question - people are fired prior to the time they reach retirement age. A person is useful only as long he continues to work at his peak level, his prior performance is of no consequence. In such inhuman environment there can be no respect and loyalty towards the employer. Why should anyone work with absolute dedication when he (or she) knows that he could be fired at a moment's notice? An employees previous performance is treated as history a loyal worker is considered a useless worker.
There is talk of recession. Recession is the result of the inability of people to buy - either because they do not earn enough or they are unemployed. Businessmen say they are running a business not a charity. But the fact that a business is allowed to exist is because the state allows it to. So businessmen should be thankful that businesses are allowed to exist and thrive. They should in return the favour by increasing employment. Giving good salaries to whom they have employed and not make them work in state of fear. Job security should be assured and there should be minimum wages law. Once an employee's salary is fixed it should not be deducted on count that a specific sales target has not been met. The job of an employee is not to meet sales targets, how can a sales target be met if the item which is supposed to be sold is of poor quality?
With increasing unemployment, homelessness - the future of the economy looks increasingly bleak. Once we overlook the needs of the underprevileged and the dirt poor that is when we lose our sense of humanity. If we stop being charitable, kind and caring we open the gates of hell.
The number of poorly paying jobs with no job security are on the rise - these jobs are just a little better than slavery, employers can make their work in excess of 8 hours. There are more and people holding placards 'Will work for food' is only a sign things are going to go from bad to worse. Working in excess of 12 hours is given high praise - it is called being competitive, it is no such thing, it is new name for slavery.
Only the extremely rich can afford to enjoy themselves while the rest they have to keep struggling from one day to the next. The value of employee as a person and a human being is not considered. Human righs is unprofitable. Slaves are very profitable it is good for business, they cost nothing and they can be made to work endlessly without ever having to pay them anything or giving them anything.
The way corporations become rich is not by improving the quality of their products and thereby creating more demand for their products. They become profitable by firing as many people as possible and lowering the salaries of those who are still employed and getting rid of their benefits. They also become profitable by stealing the pension funds of their employees. The value of products and increasing their sales are no longer a priority. The time when the welfare and the interest of the workers and employees was given importance, but now such things no longer matter. It seems the worst form of ultra-capitalism has taken root and there is no turning back the existing trend.
