The Federal Minister for Information (read propaganda) Sheikh Rashid, who had been for several years had been taking bribes from the newspaper and publication owners - for ensuring that the 7th Wage Award for the newspaper employees should not be implemented– has been replaced by a senator the new Information Minister is called Durrani. Durrani was expected to tell the owners of newspapers and publications to pay the 7th Wage Award – instead he announced to the journalists in Peshawar about the setting up of Media Cities – a frivolous idea.
Durrani has shown without a doubt that if he is not just as corrupt and crooked as his predecessor he aps many times more. Durrani is going to demand huge bribes so that he does not make the payment of the 7th Wage Award obligatory. How strange the owners of newspapers and publications can afford to pay large bribes for preventing a law from being enforced, but do not have the money to pay freelance journalists a decent amount of money.
Price of petrol
‘Prime Minister’ Shaukat Aziz has raised the price of petrol again. Although Pakistan is getting several million barrels from Saudi Arabia for free and the increase in the world of price of oil is only Rs 9 per litre taking into account refining and delivery, the company earning and the petrol pump owner’s commission all these together would make the price of petrol only Rs 15 per litre. Tax on petrol would make petrol cost Rs 20. What Shaukat Aziz (the fucking asshole) has done made petrol cost nearly Rs 60 which which has no justification. Considering that Pakistan free oil from Saudi Arabia, the price of petrol should be Rs 1 per litre.
General Musharraf the monster has equally terrible monsters in his cabinet. These creatures do not care about high unemployment, low wages. How businessmen and cartels manipulate the economy.
Running like proper businesses
Newspapers and publications, advertising agencies and printing presses are businesses which are not recognised as proper industries. Although they should be given the status of full fledged industries. The benefits and protection provided to the newspapers and publications are not given to other industries, this should go. Let the newspaper and publication industry work on the principle of what they are bringing to the market. Let the world know how much they are investing and how much they are earning. These operations start in small houses and that thinking never changes. Once they are forced out of residential areas and have to set up their operations industrial zones, they will have greater appreciation of their nature of business and they people whom they have hired and they will gladly pay people who offer them services from outside. Right now these businesses are completely anarchic, they are running without any sense of what the purpose of their business really is and they do not know anything about the state of their accounts.
