The anti-smoking campaign has been around for over 20 years, cigarette ads and packs of cigarettes state the harmful effects of smoking. But even then people smoke, obviously the anti-smoking campaign does not work. I doubt very much that cigarettes are addictive as it is claimed. I tried smoking - it had no effect! I never developed the 'habit' . I can only assume that most people smoke more for social reasons than anything else. Perhaps some people have the tendency to get addicted or they choose to get addicted. One of the most potent argument smokers present is 'No one lives forever' and the other is 'live healthy and die healthy'.
Unlike excessive alcohol consumption, cigarettes have yet to prove that they are a social menace. A person who drinks too much can become a menace to society, his behaviour is a danger to everyone, particularly his family provided he has any. No warning labels exist on the bottles of alcohol beverages - although so much is known about its health hazards. But given human nature, people will react to every warning in the exactly the opposite way, by ignoring the warnings. Oh well! What people can never be fixed.
Coming to something which is fun, Star Trek technology
- Why is that replicators cannot make people, weapons and entire planets, maybe in the 30th Century
- In the 30th Century Tractor Beams will be able to tractor entire planets, particularly a potentially 'M' Class planets and set them in orbit of a star which does not have one, or planets could be Energized from part the galaxy to another.
- In areas of the Universe where humanity has settled on different planets, the entire region will have Energiser Orbs - they will be a network, people will be able to travel to one planet just beaming there, starships will not be used.
This is just an idea for Star Trek fans who want see beyond the 24th Century. Star Ships will be capable of intergalactic travel, interstellar travel would be considered primitive. Oh Well! All this is Mad!
