It is well known that many people cannot afford to pay doctors and hospitals - which automatically results in their death. The extremely poor die anyway - because they never get to eat the proper food and do not have access to clean drinking water. The do not have the right clothes and have no shelter, these people are going to die - these are the nameless, faceless lot whom no one cares to know about. So the question about caring for such people and really trying to save their lives - that will never happen.
Euthanasia is a very controversial issue, just as capital punishment is. The right for the state to decide as to who should die and should live. What a clever way for someone to commit murder withouit ever getting caught - in the case of capital punishment an innocent person can be framed, lots of fake evidence and lots of people blatantly committing perjury and thus this person ends up being executed for a crime he did not commit. Later it is found out that he really was innocent. In case of euthanasia - it is obvious no one likes to live a crippled life - someone who knows how to to be devious enough to poison someone in such a way that person becomes comatose - spending the rest of his existence in hospital becomes unbearably expensive, so the patient is allowed to die. Sometimes doctors or nurses end giving the wrong medicine thus worsening a patients conditions that he becomes permanently incurable. Eventually a life and death decision has to be made. Accidents can be planned in such a way that someone becomes permanently crippled and eventually such a person decides to end his miserable existence.
However the fact remains that people do commit suicide for a variety of reasons. Some people kill themselves when they have lost their job. They kill themselves in jail to avoid a miserable existence. Mass unemployment can lead to people taking their own lives.
A society which ignores those who are extremely poor who because of their terrible condition will never be able to afford proper treatment even for minor problems - these people are certain to die not because they were in hospital or that they were executed - instead out of sheer neglect and absolute indifference, these are a helpless and hopeless lot. They cannot do anything for themselves and the world has chosen to completely shut them out.
[How absolutely bizarre - euthanasia is rejected as an option, but two countries are having the living daylights bombed out of them, countless lives are being lost - these include women and children - but extremes of hypocrisy are completely a different issue]
