Pakistan's telecommunication business

For decades in Pakistan telephone connections was the purview of the government. These were given on priority basis. Ordinary people who were in no particular field could not get a telephone connection for years. The procedure had tremendous red tape.  Strangely enough the application was addressed to the president of Pakistan, as if he had nothing better to do than approve telephone connections.
It was some time later that civil servants realised that telephone connection was not privilege but a business like any other. The PTCL was apparently 'privatised' but it remained a monopoly. Land connections belonged to only one organisation namely PTCL and no other company 26% shares belong to Etisalat Telecommunications instead of allowing private Pakistani companies own. it. The rest of PTCL is still owned by the government.
In all fairness privatisation should have meant that PTCL's different operations should have been sold to different Pakistani companies.  There should not be a single land line operator but several. The entire privatisation scheme is nothing but a racket nothing else. The government does not want to let go of its control.
Etisalat is a foreign company, with foreign interests and its method of operations make absolutely no sense whatsoever. For instance in terms of geographical range the territories which are right next to Pakistan - their call charges should be less in comparison. Call Saudi Arabia is  many times more expensive than calling USA or Canada. Calling all the countries in Asia and Africa should also cost lot less. But because the deal inherently was corrupt and with bad intentions - this was outcome of selling shares to a foreign country - instead of Pakistani companies buy them.
If the shares had been sold to Pakistani businessmen the government would only receive money in rupees not in US dollars. The people who sold the shares are criminals. They took those billions of dollars and escaped.
PTCL businesses should be owned by Pakistanis only. It operations should be sensible not stupid like PTCL has made them. Because PTCL is run by Etisalat the TV channels being offered are pathetic. It is as if some idiot Sheikh has come over and decided what Pakistanis should be watching. People have given up - they do not like the channels PTCL is offering - but the government does not care.
State control has to go and shady deals with foreign companies have to end.  Foreign telecommunication companies keen of investing in Pakistan should be allowed to do so but the arrangements should be clear and can be scrutinised by the public. Call charges should be fair.

The blessed and the cursed

The only way to get a really grand job is to be in the right place at the right time. Hardwork, talent, ability and intelligence means nothing. All that you learnt at you university or college is worthless. Consider a man working his butt off for years in a company, suddenly finds out the companies boss has been jailed for not paying taxes. The company winds up and the hardworking man ends on the street. He put in his life in the company – now his pension has gone and he is an old man with no chance getting another job. Lots of people try to be become movie stars end up they are too ugly, their voice is terrible and they just simply stupid – it is all matter of being bad luck. Others regardless of how they look get great part in some movie and end up acting in a film which makes lots of money. A good luck also accounts for the fact that some people can get away with mass murder and never be held accountable for their crimes and some one get just kill one person and be jailed for life ...

Mysterious kidnappings

Young students in their twenties are being kidnapped from Karachi and other cities. Though reports about these are kept secret, but with the frequency they are taking place, there is bound to be a leak  and people eventually get to know about this. But the question is who responsible and why is it happening. There are no clear answers. But the people who get away by committing such crimes are obviously are very highly placed, they are virtually above the law. No one can arrest them, even though the evidence is overwhelmingly against them. This is a new way to terrorise the people, it simply boils down to this. If the police and other law enforcement organisations are unable to prevent crime, the people would be forced to take up arms against those who murder, kidnap and steal. Whatever the reasons for the kidnapping, is irrelevant, the people protecting the kidnappers will face the wrath of the people. No court, no judge is going to prosecute these criminals. There is a limit t...

The Illuminati

The Illuminati were orginially a class of businessmen of ancient Egypt, who specialised in money lendingd to the Phatosh who needed money to build  pharaohs  and other monument and some wars. But when Rome conquered Egypt, the Illuminati moved to Rome. They worshipped Ra the sun god. The Romans were more interested in conquest than building pyramids or monuments The Illuminati provided the funds to the Romans emperors to conquer territories, bring back all the loot theytR could and slaves. The were paid back their debt with interest. The Illuminati realised war was good for business. The Roman emperors went on  conquering creating an empire. Persia was one empire the Romans could never defeat, no matter how much money was spent. The Illuminati were old enemies of the Persians and Rome could do nothing against them.  All over Europe, Rome was in control. After the end of the Roman Empire, the Illuninati set up shop all over Europe.  Spain set out to find an...
